The Wonderful Lamp

As it was very dirty, she began to rub it, that it
might fetch a higher price. Instantly a hideous
genie appeared and asked what she would have.
\Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp

Admire this lamp, hammered
from copper. Itfs odd
as an orthopedic shoe
or a coffin for bananas.
A protective tarnish darkens
the shining face it brought
into this world, after the smith
told his hands:
Let the Hidden One sleep,
and light his way
to the cave of stories.
